Dholak was second film of Lara lappa girl, Meena shorey after Ek Thi Ladki 1950. This film having hilarious plot about two childhood friends Manohar (Ajeet) and Mona (Meena Shorey) drawn towards each other repeatedly by compelling circumstances. Although initially they are just friends, the compelling circumstances in which they have to present themselves for getting jobs, result into love, albeit with reluctance initially. They  quarrel and bicker with each other, however the the naughtiness and mischievousness oftheir relationship is palpable. They mock each other but the express affection conveying through their eyes. A very youthful romance full of romance zest, and synergy.

In this song, the two perform in a get together of college in which they study. Notice that the orchestra behind consists of only women. This all women orchestra was first in Hindi Films. The music of Shyamsundar had a distinct Punjabi flavour, which revolutionised the Hindi Film music, which was till then dominated by Saigal style slow songs and influenced by Bengali music. This peppy song well rendered by Sulochana Kadam and Satish Batra conveys the energy of youth dreamland. The acting and expressions of handsome Ajeet, the  fresh Menna Shorey and the synchronising movements of chorus girls gives beauty to the song.
