Lata Mangeshkar had five solos for Madhubala in film Tarana. These were

Out of these the songs' Kya Khabar Thi, Wapas Le Le Ye Jawani and Mose Ruth Gayo Mora Sawariya were sad songs depicting the anguish of forlorn, lonely lady whose beloved has left her to desolateness and sufferings of separation.

Here in this song, Tarana, a village girl (Madhubala), madly in love with Dr.Motilal (Dilip Kumar) laments the separation when he goes to city to make preparation of Tarana's blind father and takes lot of time to return. Tarana meanwhile is just not able to spend days without Moti. She longs for his return, but feels that he has forgotten her ,totally aware of her agonies and sufferings.

Given the fact that Madhubala and Dilip Kumar's romance was in full swing at the time of filming of Tarana, it is no wonder Madhubala effectively displays the melancholic feelings of separation, nestled within her heart and gives full justice to profoundly meaningful lyrics. Anil Biswas's tune is as usual heavenly and mesmerising.
