Seenemein Sulagate Hai armaan...

Seenemein Sulagate Hai armaan-Talat, Lata- Film Tarana 1951- Lyricist Prem Dhawan-Music Anil Biswas.

Tarana ,released in 1951, was a heart wrenching, passionate and romantic and tragic film. By the time the film went on set, the real life romance between Dilip Kumar and Madhubala,(which started during the filming of movie Sangdil 1950), was blossoming. Therefore the chemistry between them, during the love scenes, is quite visible on reel as well. They shared intensely palpable intimacy between them both off and on screen. Their mocking, teasing and bickering each other, the contentedness, the exchanges of affectionate glances, happy sunny smiles on their faces and thereafter, intense sorrow and anguish arising out of separation....everything is beyond words.

The story of the film goes like this... Dr.Moti (Dilip Kumar)'s plane crashes near a small village. Villagers rescue him. A village girl, daughter of a blind man, Sardas (Kumar), Tarana (Madhubala) falls in love with Moti. Their blossoming romance is not looked upon kindly by villagers, especially one tobacco merchant Toteram (Gope).
In the meanwhile, Moti realises that the blindness of Sardas can be cured by surgery. He goes to city to prepare for surgery. Moti's father had arranged his marriage with Sheila (Shyama), who eagerly awaits him. On arrival she tries to woe him.

The villain Toteram meanwhile, tries to create anger among villagers by informing them that the romance between Moti and Tarana has gone too far.He defiles Tarana's character. The angry father of Tarana's father tries to set her on fire. However she like Seeta, miraculously escapes death. Thinking that Tarana is sead, Moti is totally devastated and engrossed in grief. However sheila persuades him to function despite grief.

Taranna then comes to city and sees Moti and Sheila together and mistakenly assumes he is married and forgotten her. The two lovers are separated.

This song sung, by Talat and Lata, effectively conveys the pangs of separation and the desolateness arising out of it. Talat's velvety soft quivering voice and Lata's grief stricken tender voice very well translate the anguish in the wonderful lyrics of Prem Dhawan. Anil Biswas imparted heavenly music, not only to this song, but all songs in the film. All these things make this song truly unforgettable, heart melting musical gem from the arsenal of Anil Biswas.

Lyrics of the Song:
