Ek raat Ki Hai Preet....

Ek Raat Ki Hai Preet- Geeta Bali- Film Faraar 1955- Lyrics Prem Dhawan- Music Anil Biswas

Written by the incorrigible romantic, Krishan Chander with lyrics by Prem Dhawan and Ali Sardar Jafri, set to music by Anil Biswas, choreographed by Sachin Shankar and Zohra Segal, brilliantly photographed in black and white by V. Ratra, and directed by Phani Majumdar under the banner of Unique Pictures for producers Tara Anand and Pradip Maitra, the film Farar , tells the story of a group of revolutionaries in pre-Partition India who flee to Goa (then a Portuguese colony) by the sea route. The Froup is led by an idealist youth Gora (Dev Anand). Gora gets injured while on the run he receives a bullet. A Doctor (Manmohan Krishna) treats him. Meenakshi ( Poonam) nurses him to recuperate. Gora establishes a bomb making factory in Goa clandestinely. He is smitten by the charm and beauty of a dancer Kitty (Geeta Bali), who joins the revolutionary group ultimately.

Love conquers all odds as Kitty ultimately misleads the police, and escapes to safety with her beau. Gora orders his accomplices to take the first boat to Bombay under cover of darkness and despite protests stays back to foil the police's designs which he does with help of Kitty who misleads the police, and escapes to safety with Gora.

For some inexplicable reason, the film was renamed as " Dev Anand in Goa". The reason may be that three more films with the same title hit the market at regular interval. This was the second film after Baazi in which Dev Anand and Geeta Bali were in lead role. They acted subsequently in five more films -Jaal”, “Zalzala” (52), “Ferry” (54), “Milap” (55) and “Pocket Maar” (56). She married Shammi Kapoor (in 55) and gradually faded away.
