Mohabbat Ki BAs Itani Daastan Hai....

Mohabbat Ki Bas Itani Daastan Hai-Lata-Rafi- Film Baradari 1955- Lyricist Kumar Barabanki- Music Nashad.

Before he opted for villain roles, Ajit acted in many films in lead roles. Baradari is one of them. Baradari literally means Twelve doors. Or the structure having twelve archways. The place is the usual meeting place of Hero and Heroine, hence the name.

It is pleasant to see Ajeet in docile and romantic role, before he was type-casted into villanious roles like Teja or Lion, mouthing silly dialogs like " Mona Loot Le Sona" in his typical gravel voice. Here in this film , he brings a breeze of fresh air. Geeta Bali was in female lead role. The leading pair was supported by Pran, Chandra Shekhar, Gope, Tiwari, Sapru and Minu Mumtaz.

This was a typical costume film, with love triangle. Nothing special in the plot of the film. Ranjit Singh (Tiwari), a chieftain of Ajaygarh refuses to bow down before the Maharaja (Sapru). He brutally killed by Maharaja's henchmen. Ranjitsing's pregnat wife Shakti ( Minu Mumtaz) is devastated and furious. She gives birth to a son Ajeet (Ajeet).
In the meanwhile Maharani also gives birth to a son Ajay. The court astrologers however advise Maharaja that Maharani should not feed the son and both Raja and Rani should not see the son's face till he is eight years old. Otherwise a disaster will descend on Royal family. In the quest of searching a wet nurse, Raja zeroes on only one name Shakti. After her initial reluctance and denials, Maharaja persuades her to accept the prince for feeding and raising. Both children (Vijay and Ajeet) develop a brotherly bond between them. After eight years the prince is taken back to his palace.

The story now comes to young Ajeet entering the paradise of love. He is in love with Gauri (Geeta Bali) , a village Girl. The structure of Baradari is their usual meeting place where they sing love songs enjoying each other's company and affection.  They are slated for marriage by their respective families. Ajeet with his band of friends loots the imperial treasure near Ajaygarh, his village, In comes karan Singh (Pran), the Sardar of Maharaja. A scuffle occurs between Ajeet and Karan, in which Ajay is victorious. The defeated karan complains to Maharaja, who sends prince Ajay to look into the matter.

When Vijay comes to village, see happens to see Gauri singing merrily with her girlfriends and smitten by her beauty and charm. He is not aware of the relationship between Ajeet and Gauri. So we end up with a classic Bollywood style love triangle. What happens in the end ? Do Ajeet and Gauri unite ultimately or their love is sacrificed on the altar of friendship ?
This song comes in the film when at their usual tryst Baradari where the two love birds express their agonies of broken hearts and futility of their love shadowed by the presence of third person Vijay, the prince.
