Aawara Hoon, Ya Gardishmein hoon

Aawara Hoon-Mukesh-Film Awara 1951-Lyricist Shailendra-Music Shankar Jaikishan.

Awara was the second film under R.K.Banner, after Barsat 1950.The story of the film was written by Khwaja A.Abbas.The film is a collaboration of the famous team of director/producer Kapoor and writer Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. K. A. Abbas originally wanted Mehboob Khan to direct the film but the two disagreed over the casting. Khan wanted Ashok Kumar to play the judge and Dilip Kumar the son. In the event, Abbas withdrew his script from Mehboob Studios and Raj Kapoor decided to direct it.

The story of the film revolves around the theme that criminals are not bad by birth ,but circumstances as well as their non acceptance by high society force them to bad path. The theme centers on the life of poor criminal Raj ( Raj Kapoor) and his childhood love Rita (Nargis). Raj play here a character of vagabond, who intends to get reformed for his childhood love. The poor ,inocent and tramp vagabond character references Charlie Chaplain. This image of Raj Kapoor was further straightened in his later film Shree 420. The film was a musical gem. Every song in the film became raging hit. This was the beginning of the golden era of Hindi film music in fifties. The film was declared super duper hit ,not only in India, but in countries like Russia (then soviet Union),Turkey,East Asia, Africa and Middle East.In 2003, Time magazine included it in a list of "10 Indian Films to Treasure".
This song particularly became very popular in Soviet Russia and still it is. Rather it is associated with unique Indianess.

Lyrics of the song:
