Toone Hay Mere Jakhmein Jigar Ko-Lata Mangeshkar-Film Nagina 1951-Lyricist Shailendra- Music Shankar jaikishan.

Film Nagina , which was released in 1951, had Nasir Khan ( Dilip Kumar's brother) and Nutan in a lead role. After Barsat and Awara, it was the third film for which SJ composed music. It was also the first film outside R.K.Banner, for which SJ gave music. As in Barsaat and Awara, SJ gave stellar performance in this film as well. SJ's music in Awara and Barsat has distinct flavour of Raj Kapoor style music. However, in Film Nagin, SJ were completely out of influence of Raj Kapoor, and their independent performance in this film was commendable.

Singer C.H.atma had three solos in this film, namely "Ek Sitara Hai Akashpe","Roun Mai Sagar Kinare" and " Dil Beqarar Hai Mera". All these songs sung in Saigal style were popular. However the film will be remembered for three very tender and affectionate songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar. These solo songs were

1. Yaad Aayee Beqasi Chhayee Hai.

2. Toone Hay Mere Jakhmein Jigar Ko.

3.Kaisi Khushiki raat Balam More saath.

Of these three Lata Solo songs, this song " Toone Hai Mere Jakhmein Jigar Ko" is considered to be all time classic song of Lata. Lata has succeeded in effectively conveying the pangs of separation and anguish arising out of it. The lyrics, the tune and rendering of the song..all these factors contribute to make it timeless classic.
