Film Saza, released in 1951, was a Dev Anand Nimmi Starrer film, directed by Fali Mistry and produced by G.P.Sippy.This song was written by Sahir, but all other songs were written by Rajendra Krishna.

Lata had sung three solos in the film

In addition to these solos Lata had duet with Talat Mahmood " Aaja Aaja Tera Intezar Hai", " Dhak Dhak Dhak Jiya kare Dhak" with chorus and "O Roop Nagar Ke saudagar", with singer Pramodini.

The music of the film was raging hit. Especially , " Tum Na Jane Kis Jahanmein Kho Gaye", is considered to be a sterling gold song in the arsenal of Lata's classic songs. It has thoughtful and profoundly meaningful lyrics, providing the sense of permanency, with heavenly music and superb ardent rendering by Lata. The dreamy eyed Nimmi on screen with her passionate expressions,effectively brings out the anguish and miseries of separation. All these factors makes this song one of the immortal songs of Lata Mangeshkar, that never seizes to mesmerise the listeners even after 3-4 generations. Truly classic song of all time.!!

The 150-minute black and white film was produced by G.P. Sippy and directed by ace cinematographer Fali Mistry who later also directed Dev Anand in “Armaan” (1953) and lensed all his directorial ventures till “Des Pardes”. Fali Mistry, who died in 1979, married actress Shyama after “Sazaa”. She was barely 17 then.
