O Jaanewale Mudke Jara Dekhte Jaana.....

O Janewale Moodke Jara Dekhte Jaana- Lata Mangeshkar- Film Shree 420 (1955)- Lyrics Hasrat Jaipuri- Music Shankar Jaikishan.

Produced and Directed by Raj Kapoor under R.K.Banner, Film Shree 420 was a telling commentary on the deteriorating moral values of corruption infested society. It touches upon the subject of  harnessing of poor people by  morally sodden upper class. The romantic comedy had Raj Kapoor and Nargis in lead roles. The songs were penned by Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri. The music was given by Shankar Jaikishan.
This was the time when nearly 8 years have lapsed since independence . The initial aspirations of better life and prosperity in middle class began to wane. Hopes were dashed, because of rampant corruption and dishonesty in the contemporry society. The film's story reflects this glaring despondency among common man. Raju is the representative of this disillusioned class of society. Raju (Raj Kapoor) ,an uneducated and illiterate youth migrates from rural part of India in search of a job to that urban magnate that is called Bombay. He is innocent and simple man, expecting others to be like him.
After landing in Bombay, He finds a place in the lower middle class people living at the road sides. The people there are simple and loving. They like Raju. There he meets with a girl Vidya (Nargis), who is teacher. Although poor, Vidya is simple, proud and principled girl. They fall in love. Their dream of happy marriage however  meets many obstacles.
Raj is seduced by Seth Sonachand (Nemo) and his sidekick Maya (Nadira) into the shady world of crime, gambling and deceit. Being street smart, Raj excels in this field and acquires within a short time, enormous wealth. Vidya tries to dissuade him to quit the illegal activivities, but fails eventually. However a flame of love and affection still is alive in the heart of both love birds. One day when Raj in fully drunken state comes to Vidya, brandishes his ill acquired wealth and flaunts his rich status in order to impress her. Vidya being a simple law abiding girl spurns him and urges him again to come to his own people. Raj however is non committal. He goes back to his new rich world. Seeing him return to immoral and criminal world, Vidya's heart weeps within. Although she had spurned him with heated words, she still loves  Raj - The Raj who was simple, innocent and having Golden heart. Outwardly stubborn Vidya observes him going, but inwardly she is sad, and desolate. Her alter ego, which loves Raj despite his shortcomings,  begs Raj to come back, by this song...
