Pyar Hua Iqraar Hua Hai Pyarse phir qyu Darta Hai Dil...

Pyar Hua Iqraar Hua Hai- Manna De and Lata Mangeshkar- Film Shree 420 (1955)- Lyricist Shailendra- Music Shankar Jaikishan.
Perhaps the most euphoric love song that Bollywood has ever come across, Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua speaks of the freshness that the season of love brings in. The film depicts Raj's (Raj Kapoor), an unemployed but golden hearted, innocent youth coming from rural Allahabad to bustling mega city of Bombay for job. In Bombay he meets Vidya (Nargis) a virtuous, simple, kind and homely poor girl. They fall in love. Unfortunately later on Raj is seduced by Seth Sonanchand (Nemo) and Maya (Nadira) into the shady world of crime and gambling. Being a street smart boy, Raj excels in the field of cheating and deception and aptly named 420, referencing an article in India Penal code, relating to cheating and betrayal. Raj acquires wealth, but in the process looses Vidya's innocent and ardent love. The remaining film is all about Raj's desperate attempt to escape from the criminal world and renew his love relationship with Vidya. All this comes later.
This song comes in the film when their affectionate love blossoms in the presence of rain in erstwhile Bombay. This is the most iconic monsoon song ever filmed. The typical torrential downpour of Bombay, the strong gusts of chilly winds driving the sheets of slanting rains horizontally, the two love birds caught suddenly in the rains and their affectionate attempts to shield each other from the drenching rain, the fond glances, the gentle touches ..all these brings forth the innocent and appealing love feelings of the couple. Here you get the glimpses of old Bombay with almost deserted roads with wet footpaths, the poodles , the occasional bus and presence of a milkman going for early delivery.
Every thing in the camera frame adds to the beauty of Bombay monsoon and thereby enhances the image of the iconic couple splashing through the poodles, under a shared umbrella, in half drenched state. However the couple does not bother about  the drenching as their minds are drenched with tender feelings of warm love.

Although they are deeply in love, there is a kind of hesitance, because of the uncertainty about where it will lead them. They are not aware of it. The road ahead is full of difficulties and struggles. However they promise to each other that their love will not wane in the adversities. They are sure that the tale of their love will be remembered by everyone including this romantic dreamy night and the surrounding nature. Even if in the future, they will not be alive, the signs their immortal love will be left behind in the form of their children.

What a profoundly romantic lyrics by Shailendra. !! In this last stanza he elevates the song to a new level, touching upon the universal desire of human being, susceptible to mortal threat, to leave his presence in the form of their children after his death. On screen we can see Nargis pointing to three childen going to school, fully covered in raincoats. These are Ritu Singh, Rhishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor in early age. Later in an interview, Rishi Kapoor reminisces ,"I had to give a shot and it was raining that day. It was difficult for crew to make me prepare for the shot. I had just to walk without any expression. It was Nargis who came up with the idea to offer me chocolate to get the shot done. In that sense, I started taking bribes when I was two-year-old"
