Rukhsana ,a R.C.Talwar film, was a romance and adventure film, with lead pair Kishore Kumar and Meena kumari. Despite having the powerful star cast , the film did below average business on box office due to unimaginative direction, weak plot, stereotyped characters, and bizarre incidences  defying logic. 

The only silver lining to this otherwise forgotten film was composer Sajjad Hussain's splendid music. Sajjad harnessed the sweet voice of Ashaji  to maximum extent. The three songs that Ashaji  had " Tumhe Ham  Yaad Karte Hai", Tere Jahan se Chal Diye" and " Din Raat Jafayein Karte Hai" were breathtakingly captivating. This is the only film in which Sajjad used Kishore Kumar's voice.
