Chakori Ka Chandase Pyyar- Lata Mangeshkar- Film Daaman 1951-Lyricist Raja Mehandi Ali Khan-Music K.Dutta

Film Daaman, released in 1951,was second film for which Lata sang under composer Datta Korgaokar. First movie was "Badi Maa", released in 1945. Noor Jehan was the leading lady of "Badi Maa". Naturally, the music of the film was dominated by Noor Jehan.Lata had sung only one song in the fil" Janani Janmabhoomi, Tum Maa Ho"(with Meenakshi Shirodkar). Film Badi Maa, therefore is remembered for Noor Jehan's song, particularly " Diya Jala Ke Aap Buzaya".

Following partition of India, Noorjehan migrated to Pakistan. Daaman was produced after her migration. Therefore the music was dominated by Lata. Lata sang following songs in the film:

3) Ashkonse Likhi Taqdeer Meri

4) Yaad aane Lagi Dil Dukhane Lagi (with Rafi) 

5) Ruki Ruki Hawayen (With Asha Bhosle)

Lata's songs in early fifties had distinct influence of Noor Jehan style. However credit must be given to composer K.Dutta, that this influence is nowhere to be seen on the songs of Lata in film Daaman. Lata's voice was fresh, young and tender and the music of Daaman brings forth these qualities of Lata's singing.

K.Dutta hardly composed music for hardly 14-15 films. However he is remembered for the music of "Badi Maa 1945", Naadan 1945 and Daaman 1951
