Bade armanonse Rakha Hai Balam....

Bade Armanonse Rakha Hai Balam- Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar-Film Malhaar 1951- Lyricist Indivar-Music Roshanlal Nagrath

Even after the passage of 3-4 generations, Film Malhaar released in 1951 and produced under the banner of Darling Films by legendary singer Mukesh, shows no sign of staleness, at least in the area of music.

Mukesh had come to Bombay to become an actor/singer like K.L.Saigal. He tried his luck in acting in films like "Nirdosh" and "Aadab e Arj" and "Mashooqa".However he could not make impact as an actor, hence he turned to producing the films. Under his Darling Films banner, he produced two films ," Malhaar 1951" and "Anurag 1956".He composed music for "Anurag". Both films, however, bombed at Box Office. He therefore turned his attention to the career as a singer, where he excelled beyond imagination and became a legendary singer.

Film Malhaar's music was composed by Roshanlal Nagrath. Roshan came to limelight because of his excellent music in "Bawre Nain", released in 1951. In the same year came Malhaar. Although Malhaar was a flop on box office, the music did not fail. In fact while considering the the career of Roshan as music composer, you can't bypass his music in film Malhaar, which was a milestone in his career. Although Film Malhaar had a young and largely inexperienced cast and crew, for many of whom it was their debut vehicle, the piece-de-resistance of the film was it's music score. Each song, led by the remarkable “Bade Armaanon Se Rakha Hai Sanam Teri Qasam, Pyaar Ki Duniya Mein Yeh Pehla Qadam” is a gem. Roshan was undoubtedly complemented by the lyricists, debutant Indeevar and Kaif-Irfani- who penned sheer poetry, including “Dil Tujhe diya tha Rakhne ko, Tune Dil ko Jala ke Rakh Kiya” and “Tara Toote Duniya Dekhe”. Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh, needless to mention, made them immortal in their voice.

"Malhaar failed at box office because of inexperienced starcast, including the lead pair of Arjun and Shammi. Arjun was the hero of the film. After Malhar , he was seen in film "Daku Ki Ladki 1954. However, the cine viewers never accepted him as a hero material.

Same was the case of actress Shammi. Malhaar saw the debut of Shammi (as Reshmi) who, in later years became a character actor portraying roles of the best friend, the mother and even grandmother. But clearly, she lacked the mystique, finesse and talent required of a leading lady, which could have helped her to pick nuances of the character at different stages with subtlety.

Another debuting actor in Malhaar was Motisagar (Father of singer Preeti Sagar of "My heart is beating"-Julie 1975 fame). He also wanted to become actor/singer like Mukesh, but could not make any impact in both fields. He later on went into oblivion.

Here in this film, the story revolves around the love of Reshmi (Shammi) and Ratan ( Arjun). Reshmi's father "Thakur", rescues Ratan from the criminal Band during a heist, and adopts him. He treats Ratan as his own son. Reshmi and Ratan fall in love. The childhood love blossoms into full fledged dedicated love at the advent of their attaining adulthood.

This song beautifully portraits the transformation of childhood nascent love into all encompassing passionate and affectionate love in adulthood. The love birds having dreams and stars in their eyes, are assured of their long lasting love, which nobody can destroy. They are lost into another dreamland of love, oblivious to the trivialities of material world. Unlike the hanging moon in the sky, who decreases and increases during the passage of time, they feel their love is constant and not going to be affected by anything. The trust is complete and unshakable.

Lyrics of the song:
