Ye Ruki Ruki Hawayen

Ye Ruki Ruki Hawayen-Film Daaman 1951-Lyricist Raja Mehandi Ali Khan-Music K.Dutta.

Film Daaman, released in 1951 was a run of a mill film, with nothing particularly interesting about it as a film. However discerned Hindi Film music lovers still remember the film for one historical fact first time the golden voices of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle came together to sing a song in this film.
Both being daughters of eminent singer and actor Master Dinanath Mangeshkar, music was in their blood naturally. For Lata music was passion and means of living. Asha, however did'nt consider the career of play back singing seriously. It is only after her love marriage with Mr.Bhosle, that she began to consider the singing career seriously as a means of meeting the both ends. Their marriage was against the wishes of relatives, hence it was cause of a kind of hostility and ultimately isolation. Asha therefore started singing out of compulsion for earning money rather than passion for music.

By that time ,her sister Lata had entrenched herself firmly as play back singer. It was a challenge for Asha to compete with Lata, while coping with the adversities of married life. Because of Asha's love marriage, both sisters were not on talking terms and during this turbulent period, composer managed to bring both sisters to sing a song in this film. It was an admirable feat. It was only after six years that both sister came together to sing a song in Film Sharada, released in 1957, under the banner of Prasad Productions. The song was " O Chand Jahan Wo Jaye"

Asha had a solo in Daaman " Chale Hai teer Nazarse", but the song did not get fame as "Ruki Ruki Hawayein" gained.

Lyrics of the song:
