Anarkali was the biggest hit of 1953, and the music of C.Ramchandra's music played an important role in the success of the film. By 1953, C.Ramchandra's name was counted among the eminent composers. During the year , actress Bina Rai marrried with actor Prem Nath. . After marriage ,he had established a production company named P.N.Films, and Shagoofa was the first film produced under it's banner. To en-cash Anarkali's success, Bina Rai was taken as heroine and Prem Nath himself played Hero's role.

The miraculous success of Anarkali, however could not be repeated for film Shagoofa. Neither Bina Rai's elfin charm nor Prem Nath's sensitive portrayal of the role of a Doctor could save "Shagufa" from being a flop. But the CR's music & Lata's vocals were the saviors as far as  the music lovers were concerned.The film flopped miserably. However like film Jhanjhar, this film will always be remembered for it's melodious music. The combination of Lata Mangeshkar and C.Ramchandra has given musical gems in this film. For instance sample this song " Apana Pata Bata De". This song was in two parts. One was in slow version and other in fast. Lata  excelled in both versions. Apart from this song , she sang following songs, which are still remembered for their sweetness.

All these songs were melodious. Lata's Midas touch has given these songs a new dimension. C.Ramchandra's lilting music is heavenly and honey dripping. Shagoofa, therefore will be remembered for it's marvelous music only.
