Nahi Maloom Kyu Piya
There is a long list of eminent music composers in Hindi Film Industry. We immediately recall the names of C.Ramchandra, S.D.Burman, Hemant kumar and so on. These all composers were singers as well. Manna Dey is also one of the name in this list. However, he is not remembered as music composer as such. He is more revered as a singer. Manna dey came in the Film Industry to become a music composer. He has worked with other composers in films like Jaan Pehchan 1950 (with Khemchand Prakash), Tamasha 1949 (With Khemchand Prakash and Ved Pal), Mashal 1950 (With S.D.Burman). However, film Chamkee 1952, was Manna Dey's first movie for which he composed music independently. The songs of the film were penned by Kavi Pradeep. All these songs were classic one. Especially this song " Nahi Maloom Kyu Piya Jabse Mile Tum" was wonderfully composed. Pradeep's beautiful lyrics, Lata's sweet voice and Manna Dey's marvelous tune adds to the beauty of the song, which creates an ambiance in which the listener is transported.

Mannad Dey as a singer is recognized by all, but as a composer, he did not get that much fame and success. Therefore he concentrated on singing career. Sonal 1972, was his last film for which he composed music. He however excelled as a singer and attained popularity.
