Shammi Kapoor's name is synonymous to Dancing, jumping and Yahoo type junglee Hero. His movies Professor, Junglee, Badtameez strengthened this image. However when he came in Hindi Film, this was not his image. He played sensitive, mellow roles. In film ,Laila Majnu, he played the role of Qais the lover of Laila. The film seems just so much of lovely romance of Qais and Laila, doomed to exotic tragedy.The casting of Nutan and Shammi Kapoor as Laila and Qais is brilliant and the stars bring a strong romantic appeal to their roles and act superbly, literally sinking themselves in the characters they portray. Instinct with all the pulsating romance of black velvet nights in a desert encampment, “Laila Majnu” exudes the exotic essence of love by idyllic, poetically imaginative settings.

The music by Ghulam Mohamed and Sardar Malik is absolutely wonderful, alive with haunting melody and glorious emotion.
