Milte Hi Aankhein Dil Hua- Talat Mahmood & Shamshad Begum-Film Babul 1950-Lyricist Shakeel Badayuni-Music Naushad

Even after Rafi's voice became synonymous with Dilip Kumar's voice, many eminent composers like Anil Biswas, Madan Mohan, and C.Ramchandra  liberally used Talat's voice for Dilip kumar. Shankar Jaikishan also used Talat's voice in films"Shikast 1953 and "Daag 1953". However it was Naushad who always refrained using Talat for some inexplicable reasons. Babul is the only film wherein he used Talat. This was first and also last time he used Talat's voice.  Although Lata had became an unavoidable fixture in Naushad's music by this time, the music of film Babul was dominated by Shamshad Begum.Whereas Lata got two solos and a duet with Shamshad ,( 'Panchhi Ban Me Piya Piya Gane Laga", "Lagan More Manki Piya Nahi Jane" and "Hue Majboor Ham Kisi Ke Dilmein" (Duet with Shamshad)), Shamshad got 4 solos and 4 duets. Here are the solo songs by Shamshad:

1. Dhadke Mera Dil.

2.Jadoo Bhare Nainomein.

3.Na Socha Tha Ye Dil Laganese Pahale.

4.Chhod Babul ka Ghar Mohe Pi Ke Nagar.

All the solo songs became raging hit, but the winner song was "Chhod Babul Ka Ghar", which got imense popularity. In those days, it was invariably played in wedding processions. In the film, the song was also in Talat's voice, but record was released in only Shamshad's version.
