Ae Dil Muze Aisi Jagah Le Chal

Ae Dil Muze Aisi Jagah Le Chal- Talat Mahamood- Film Arzoo 1950-Lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri-Music Anil Biswas.
After the release of the films" Anokha Pyar","Mela" and "Andaz", Mukesh's voice became synonymous with Dilip Kumar's voice. It was Anil Biswas, who gave the first break for Mukesh as Dilip Kumar's voice, and It was again Anil Biswas who gave Talat Mahamood a real break as Dilip Kumar's voice in film "Arzoo", which was released in 1950.
This song was his first real hit and popular song. Dilip Kumar was at the zenith of popularity by that time, and Talat was a struggler. Talat, therefore was overwhelmed by the prospectus of singing for eminent actor like Dilip Kumar. At the recording of the song, Dilip Kumar was also present in the studio. Awed by his overbearing presence, Talat made many mistakes. Anil Biswas noticed those mistakes, but completed the recording without any comments.
Next day, he again called Talat for the recording. This time Dilip Kumar was not there. Talat sang freely without any burden and a flawless wonderful song was recorded.
The film "Arzoo", was basically a tragedy film, depicting a tale of a  unsuccessful love. Badal, (Dilip Kumar) a clown villager and Kammo ( Kamini Kaushal) are childhood neighbors and grown up playing with each other. They never knew when they fell in love while growing up. They want to marry but Kammo's father is against this marriage as Badal is doing nothing for living. Kammo asks Badal to go to city to work and earn. While Badal is leaving in the late night a sick & old relative arrives. Badal asks him to rest in his room and to inform his family members about his migration in the morning. The room catches fire because of ignorance of the old man and he is charred to death but Badal's family, Kammo and all villagers take Badal as dead as they do not know the truth. Badal joins Indian army and returns after few years/months only to find that Kammo is married to wealthy Thakur. Rather than leaving Kammo on her own, he decides to take revenge, befriends Thakur, pretends loving Thakur's sister Kamala (Shashikala) and stays around Kammo. Upon knowing Kammo & Badal's past affair Thakur shoot Badal but Kammo takes the bullet on her chest and dies.
The song comes, when upon returning from army, Badal comes to know that his beloved Kammo has been married. He is utterly devastated. His whole word has been consigned to cinders. He prays to his own soul to take him to such place, where there are no sympathizers and betraying people. He hopes to find a sweet tranquility and calm, in which he can go to oblivion forever, without any disturbance. He tells his soul that he had got enough medicine of betrayal and now it is ripe time to depart from this world, leaving behind all the things dearest to him. Heart touching words, laced with profound agony and misery of betrayal, penned by Majrooh and the equally wonderful tune by Anil Biswas ,that lingers behind for long time, even if the song ends, makes this song immortal.
Lyrics of the song:
