There are some songs which are wrapped in an enigma and have mysterious aura around them, because the face of singer on screen is ambiguous. However these songs have distinct character of mystery and intrigue. Few examples of such songs are " Aaja Re Pardesi" ( Madhumati), "Naina Barse Rimzim Rimzim" ( Woh Kaun Thi), "Kahi Deep Jale Kahi Dil" etc.

The song "Aayega Aayega Aanewala" in film Mahal ,which was released in 1949, was first song in this genre. On the backdrop of Old dilapidated Haveli, Rainy night laden with mist, Old big clock on tower striking eerily in night, confused Hero, undulating curtains, swinging chandelier and to top it, a black cat, comes the floating voice of Lata. The song starts very slowly, with a big pause in between and  again resumes.,It shows Kamini (Madhubala) , descending staircase with a candle in her hand, her face wrapped. To enhance the mystery, to get the viewers involved and mesmerized, the song is interspersed throughout the film in pieces. Many experts were apprehensive of including such song in the film on the pretext that it will hinder the continuity of the film and make viewers bored. However Music composer Khemchanda Prakash was confident about the song. Rest was history !! The film and the song was blockbuster hit. 

The song gave the real recognition to the voice of Lata Mangeshkar and composer Khemchand Prakash. It also paved  the way for such songs in mystery genre.Thus the film and the song were trendsetters in many ways. This song is considered to be a timeless classic of Lata Mangeshkar and ranks first in class and popularity. The records of the song, however mentioned, singer's name as "Kamini", Madhubala's character on screen, as was the custom that time.
