Meri aakhomein Bas Gaya Koi Re..

Meri Aakhonmein Bas Gaya Koi Re- Lata Mangeshkar-Film Barsat 1949-Lyricist Hasrat Jaipuri- Music Shankar Jaikshan.

The tranquil and quiet ambiance, flowing river, soothing music of  cascading small waterfall. What more can you ask for confessing the love in your heart ? This serene mood induces the heroine Nargis, to declare the dormant love nestling in her heart towards her beloved one, Raj Kapoor. Cuddled up in his caring lap, she views him affectionately. Fully engrossed in his love, she feels him in her eyes and in herat. Even though the shimmering stars grace the night, she could not sleep because her mind is fully tormented with thoughts of his love. She is compelled to while away the night, sighing and tossing.
She feels that the stars are trying to tell her something, but unable to comprehend , her eyes well up with ever flowing tears. Afraid that she will end up her life in his anguished memories, she feels helpless.
Very few songs are fortunate enough to have great lyrics and  music as well as superb picturization. This is the one, to have all this factors, which make a song immortal. Both listening and viewing this song onscreen is treat to senses. The chemistry between the love birds is evident by the palpable love current between the two, which can be sensed by their reciprocal affectionate glances and the intense fondness to each other. He seems to actually so much involved in her dilemma and compassionate empathy, that his eyes are also full of tears, some of the which fall on the tender cheek of Nargis.
Here I can not help remembering another song, depicting such an intensity between the lovers, " Beiman Tore Nainwa, Nindiya Na Aaye", by Lata ,from film Tarana 1950, whose music was composed by Anil Biswas. In this song also, the chemistry between Madhubala and Dilipkumar was intimate, both on screen and off screen. In respect of lyrics, rendering and music, this song is no less superior to above song.
During the earlier days of her singing career, Lata's singing was heavily influenced by the style of Noor Jehan. This song reminds Noor Jehan.

Lyrics of the song:
