Aye Aankh Ab Na Rona- Lata Mangeshkar and Ram Chitalkar- Film Sipahiya 1949- Lyricist Rajendra Krishna- Music C.Ramchandra.

Before the advent of Lata Mangeshkar, the music of C.Ramchandra was dominated by light, racy and fast songs. However, after the arrival of Lata a new kind of transformation was observed in his music. He invariably, gave soft, emotional songs depicting  the feelings of despair and agonies of broken heart and pains of separation arising out of it,  to Lata. Often, Lata solos under C.Ramchandra music tended to be poignant and emotive. In film Sipahiya, which was released in 1949, he first time sang a serious emotional duet with Lata Mangeshkar. This was a total departure from his usual style of singing light songs. Although this was not the style of his singing, he nevertheless has sung this duet with passion.

Lata had three memorable songs in this film, which have become a timeless classics

2. Dard Jaga Ke Thes Laga Ke

3. Laga Hai Kuch Aisa Nishana.( Duet with Ram Chitalkar)

C.Ramchandra sang some light songs with Shamshad Begum in this film, as usual, but the film will be remembered by discerning listeners for Lata songs. Slowly Lata was occupying major part of C.Ramchandra's music. This was a dawn of that era, when later on, the combination of Lata and C.Ramchandra, produced such musical Gems, that even after four generations they are revered as immortal ones.

The song was picturized on Madhubala and Yakub and depicts the miseries of love lorn couple and poignant mood of separation.Notice how in stanza "Hum Dil To apna pehle bhi", the voices of Lata and Ram Chitalkar travel in two different planes and coming together in the mukhada of the song. Truely Marvelous !. My favorite C.Ramchandra-Lata combination song......
