O Muze Kisis Se Pyar Ho Gaya- Lata Mangeshkar-Lyricist Jalal Malihabadi- music Shankar Jaikishan

Prior to Film Barsat, it was a general custom in films, that if a movie has two or more heroines, their songs were recorded in the voices of different singers. The purpose was to highlight the differences between personalities and give distict identity to the actresses. Barsat, which was released in 1949, however broke this pattern. In this film, there were two heroines ( Nargis and Nimmi) and another actress Bimla. All the three had songs on screen. However, all the songs were sung by Lata and Lata only. Thus, in Barsat ,first time Lata Mangeshkar's voice had all inclusiveness. In Barsat and thereafter in many movies different actresses in same movie used to sing in Lata's voice. In Barsat, Lata sang for Nargis, Nimmi and Bimla ,still retaining their distinctness .This was one of the features of the music of this film. Take a look at Lata's songs in this film:

Out of total eleven songs, Lata sang Ten songs and all the songs were raging hits then and even now. Rafi had remaining song " Mai Zindagimein Hardam Rota Raha Hoon". This shows the total domination of Lata's voice in Shakar Jaikishan. This was the commencement of new era, the era in which Lata's voice was to eclipse all other feminine voices in the hindi film music.
