Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon-Shamshad Begum/Ram Chitalkar-Film Patanga 1949-Lyricist Rajendra Krishna- Music C.Ramchandra

The style and texture Lata and Shahshad Begum was totally different. While Lata's voice was soft and tender, Shamshad's was strong and thick. Therefore the soft, emotional songs were given to Lata Mangeshkar in this film, the composer , C.Ramchandra, gave light and lilting songs  to Shamshad Begum because of the texture of her voice. Shamshad sang two light and bouncy duets with Chitalkar in this film       ( This song and other " O Dilwale Dil Ka Lagana")

There is a small story about this duet. Till then, there was no telephone communication between Burma and India. However, when this song became popular, with the initiative of the governments of both countries, the communication line was established. On screen, this song is picturized on Nigar Sultana and Gope.
