Tu Kahe Agar Jeevanbhar..

Tu Kahe Agar Jeevanbhar- Mukesh-Film Andaz 1949-Lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri- Music Naushad
In hindi film music, voice of Mukesh is synonymous to voice of Raj Kapoor on screen. However, in film "Andaz", released in 1949, all the songs in the voice of Mukesh, were given to Dilip Kumar on screen.Only one song was given to Raj Kapoor on screen. It was "Yoon To Aapasmein Bighadte Hai", sung by Rafi.

Dilip Kumar had four songs in the film, in Mukesh's voice."Ham Aaj Kahi Dil Kho Baithe","Tu Kahe Agar","Tute Na Dil Tute Na", and Zoom Zoom Ke Nacho Aaj". All songs were on piano on screen. Earlier, Naushad used piano in films like, "Anokhi Ada" and "Anmol Ghadi 1948", but it was extensively used in "Andaz".
Mehboob Khan, the producer Director of "Andaz" had fascination to Piano, therefore Naushad composed all these four songs on piano tunes. The above four songs had different shades of moods, " Ham Aaj Kahi Dil" ( Love Lorn Mood), "Tu Kahe Agar"( Dedication for Love), "Zoom Zoom Kar Nacho Aaj"( Total raptness) and " Tute Na Dil Tute Na" ( despair  and pangs of separation).

The lyrics of all the songs were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. This was his first and the last association with Naushad. For some inexplicable reasons, Majrooh did not write songs under Naushad's baton in future.

Lyrics of the song:
