Abhi To Mai Jawan Hoon-Lata Mangeshkar- Film Afsana 1951- Lyricist Gaafil harnalji- Music Husnalal Bhagatram.

Film Afsana, released in 1951 was a grossly entertainer, based loosely on Vendetta, with romance, separation, greed and suspense sprinkled in. It was also the first film of producer Director B.R.Chopra, who later on become a cult figure for giving films with social message. This is also the first film of Ashok Kumar with B.R.Chopra,although he starred in many films of later.

"Abhi To Mai Jawan Hoon", is actually a popular song by Malika Pukhraj. Lyricist Gaafil Harnalji had taken only the starting line of the gazal for film Afsana. The song was filmed on Kuldip Kaur who plays a role of Leela, who is greedy for wealth and her fiancee Mohan ,played by Pran.

As far as I remember, in the program  Aap ke Anurodh par From Srilanka Broadcasting, which was broadcasted every sunday night from 10pm to 11.pm., this song was played as the signature tune for the program. Those were the days in mid 50's when Balu Keskar the then I&B minister had banned film songs from AIR which as a result lost to SLBC--Then realising their folly GOI came out with Vividh Bharti in 1958.

Here, lyricist urges to take your life (However it is) by both hands, embrace it with zest and happiness. The whole song has immense fountains of positive energy emanating from the song which is quite infectious.Lata's tender and fresh voice brings forth the brilliance of lyrics. The waltz like dance steps of both Kuldip Kaur and Pran on the dance floor impart enthusiatic tempo of the song. In all a song to relish in quiet and serene night to enhance your mood......
