Nastik was a film released in 1954, by Filmistan Studios and having setting of Indian partition and the harsh conditions under which the refugees have to undergo. This is essentially a story of Anil (Ajeet)who turns atheist, after witnessing brutal killing of his parents during partition violence. His brother dies and sister (Roopmala)is compelled to work as coutesan , when Anil vows revenge on Tulsiram, a priest, who had refused to help, because of which his brother dies. He is in persuit of Tulsiram, when the latter in order to escape from Anil's wrath, is on a pilgrimage with his daughter Rama (Nalini Jaywant), who is a kind nature girl. Anil and Rama fall in love. Anil sees opportunity to avenge Tulsiram by marrying with Rama. They spend a night. Next day during travel, their boat capsizes and both fall in water. Rama is saved by her father and assumes that Anil is dead. Pregnant Rama gives birth to a son, who falls sick. She takes him to a Godman Babaji with immense healing powers. Babaji is none other than Anil. Seeing Rama and his son, he transforms completely and with the recovery of the son, begins to believe in Sanatan Dharma.

This song comes in the film when Rama falls in love with Anil and with the feelings of love welling up her heart, she expresses the emotions, fully immersed in her love.
