Dekho Ji bahar Aayee....

Dekho Ji Bahar Aayee Bagomein Khili Kaliyan- Lata Mangeshkar- Film Azad 1955- Lyricist Rajendra Krishna- Music C.Ramchandra.

Produced and Directeby S.M.S. Naidu, The movie Azad 1955 was a remake of Tamil Film Mallakkalin. This was one of few films of Legendary Tragedy King Dilip Kumar, and tragedy queen Meena Kumari who were seen in light, peppy roles as a leading pair. It is indeed pleasant to see both laughing and care free, instead of serious, melancholic and tear shedding roles. It imparts a kind of freshness to the movie.
The story of the film revolves around certain Bandit Azad ( Dilip Kumar) and Shobha (Meena Kumari). The orphan Shobha is raised by her father's friend Charan Das (Badri Prasad). Sunder (Pran) a notorious gangster has evil eye on Shobha. He abducts Shobha, however Azad ambushes him and brings Shobha to his home nestled far beyond the hills. There he reveals himself as handsome and dashing Azad. He considers himself a Robin Hood type character, looting the wealth of riches and distributing it among poor and destitute. The initially sulking Shobha gradually falls prey to his courageous, and dashing persona and the affectionate love feelings begin to blossom between them. It is in this romantic mood, that Shobha sings this song, while she is apparently alone in the garden.
The music of the film was given by eminent composer C.Ramchandra. Initially, SMS Naidu signed composer Naushad for this film. However he placed one condition before Naushad, that all songs should be composed within a month. This was not acceptable to Naushad , who used to compose the music of every song with pain staking care. Time was secondary thing to him. Naturally Naushad rejected the offer. The same offer was placed to C.Ramchandra, who readily accepted on one condition. His remuneration should be Rs. One Lakh, which was a very big amount that time.Lyricist Rajendra Krishna and C.Ramchandra were given royal treatment in erstwhile Madras. A separate suite was reserved in an elegant and posh Hotel. First 20 days nothing happened, not a single song was recorded. SMS Naidu was anxious. However both Rajendra Krishna and C.Ramchandra were confident. All the songs were written and composed by the duo within last 3 days, and what a music C.Ramchandra composed..!! All the songs became instantly hit. The lilting and sweet songs became chart busters. C.Ramchandra was overjoyed when he obtained a cheque of Rs. One Lakh. However SMS Naidu had last laugh when he used the same tunes in his Malayalam film Thaskaraveeran ,released in 1957, which was remake of Azad. C.Ramchandra did not get remuneration for the film.
