Unknown Hero, relatively unknown heroine in lead pair, a music composer virtually unknown and nothing is available on net about the story of the movie Rishtaa, which was released in 1954. Only thing we know is lead pair was Suresh and Nigar Sultana, who were supported by character artists like Leela Mishra, Nazeer, Anwar and Vijay Lakshmi.  Even the lyricist Keshav Tridevi and his filmy career is also not known. No wonder, the movie also went into oblivion.  Whatever information available about Suresh from net (Bollywoodirect) is that,  Suresh (13 November 1928–14 July 1979) (real name: Naseem Ahmed), also known as N.A. Suresh, was an actor in Bollywood, who was born in Gurdaspur, Punjab, India. He acted in Hindi/Hindustani films from 1929 to 1979.

In the 1950s he was cast as a leading actor opposite the main heroines of those times, including Madhubala, Suraiya, Vyjayanthimala, and a Geeta Bali. He was chosen as a hero by producer/director A.R. Kardar in many of his films, including ‘Dulari’ (1949) opposite Madhubala, ‘Jadoo’ (1951) opposite Nalini Jaywant,’Deewana’ (1952) opposite Suraiya and Yasmin (1955 film) opposite Vyjayantimala. In Qaidi (1957 film) Padmini (actress) was his heroine and in ‘Teen Ustad’ (1961), he teamed up with Ameeta, as his heroine. Shyama acted as the female lead and Suresh was the hero of ‘Char Chand’(1953). Suresh and Nigar Sultana (actress) were the leading pair of ‘Rishta’(1954) and Suresh and Usha Kiran acted as hero and heroine of ‘Dost’(1954).

As far as Nigar Syltana is concerned her film career started with film , "Hum Tum Aur Woh". Subsequently she acted in prominent films like "Aag 1948", Bazar 1949,  Patanga 1949, Sunhare Din 1949 ,Khel 1950, Daman 1951 ,Rishtaa 1954, Mirza Ghalib 1954, Mangu 1954, Khaiber 1954, Dara 1954, Durgesh Nandini 1956,  Yahudi 1958, Mughal-E-Azam 1960. Her second marriage was with K.Asif, the director of epic magnum opus movie " Mughal-E-Azam." Her last movie was Jumbish 1986. She breathed her last on 21st April 2000.

Although film Rishtaa is long forgotten, the music given by K.Dutta was outstanding .The film had following unforgettable songs....

Since no video of this movie, is available anywhere,  most probably the song " Sajan Se Pahali Baar", may have been filmed on Nigar Sultana. I am not sure though....
