Aa Neele Gagan Tale Pyar Ham Kare

Aa Neele Gagan Tale- Hemant Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar- Film Badshah 1954- Hasrat Jaipuri- Music Shankar Jaikishan

Badshah 1954, was a Amiya Chakraborty directed film very well adapted from Victor Hugo's classic " Humchback of Notre Dame". The film had srong star cast comprising of
Hari Shivdasani, K. N. Singh, Pradeep Kumar, Usha Kiran, Ulhas, Agha, Mala Sinha, and Achla Sachdev. The plot has every ingredient of a commercially successful film. It has love, lust, passion , devotion, tyranny and revolt against the tyranny. Since these all are basic universal feelings, the adaptation from french does not look out of context.

A basically noble ruler Dharmraj (K.N.Singh) is smitten by the beauty of one of his citizen, Gulabi (Usha Kiran), a young and pretty Gypsy girl, and is possessed by the desire to have her. Embarking on the path of cruelty and unjustice, he orders his ugly slave Badshah (Ulhas) to abduct her in the night. The hunchback Badshah, reluctantly while carrying out the order, is arrested by Bhaskar (Pradeep Kumar), a army captain, and brought before Dharmraj for justice. Dharmraj spurns him and orders for his public flogging. Badshah silently endures the punishment. Gulabi tends him with care and affection during his agony. Badshah falls in love with her.
However, Gulabi worships and loves Bhaskar, who loves Malati (Mala Sinha), yet he reciprocates Gulabi's love. Furious Dharmraj, stabs Bhaskar and the blame comes upon Gulabi. She is tortured into confessing her as guilty and sentenced to death after few days. Bhaskar is nursed by Malati and her devotion prompts Bhaskar to forget Gulabi. In the meanwhile, Dharmraj tries to lure Gulabi who spurns his attempts. Badshah revolts against the tyrant and rescues Gulabi from execution. Relentless Dharmraj again abducts her and she is marched to execution. Furious Badshah kills Dharmraj, however cannot save Gulabi. The film ends with Badshah lumbering along with Gulabi's corpse in his hand, as the wedding procession of Bhaskar and Malati passes by. A tragic end......
This song, is filmed on Bhaskar (Pradeep Kumar) and Gulabi (Usha Kiran). It starts so tenderly, followed by manly voice of Hemant Kumar and honey sweet voice of Lata. Initial music sets the calm tempo of the song. The two lovebirds are totally engrossed in each other's love, oblivious to the worries of material world. They aspire for the paradise of love where they would blend in each other's company , under the indigo blue canopy of star studded sky. They desire for eternal love till the end of world. The song ends as silently as it starts. Powerful and profound lyrics of Hasrat Jaipuri the serene tune of Shankar Jaikishan, and divine voices of both singers add a kind of mystic touch to the song and transports the listeners to the exclusive world of the two lovebirds, immersed in the ardent love in the scenic heaven of love, from where nobody wants to come back. Therefore, even after the song ends it lingers into the mind of listener for long time.
