Angaray , released in 1954 by Akash Chitra, is a film depicting the romance between the son and daughter of two chieftains of tribes living in some obscure Himalayan Valley and how their love defies the perils and ultimately the death. The end is quite tragic. Actually the fact that the boy is son of chieftain, whom the nurse had taken for a still-born child and changed with the girl who was born the same night, enhances the romance and adds powerfully to the dramatic interest of the story.
From a chance meeting in childhood, culminating in passionate devotion and affection to each other which is bold enough to defy the death, arising out of enmity between two tribes.In a terrific climax, the young lover is fatally wounded by the chieftain in the very moment that he learns it is his own son he is killing just as the girl he has long believed to be his daughter leaps to her own death. It is a tragic and a terrific finale.

Nasir Khan plays young lover completely engrossed in the love of Nargis. The lead pair is supported by Jeevan, K.N.Singh, Vanmala, Pran, Paro, Rattan Kumar,Jagirdar, Nanda, Jeevan, Sunalini Devi, Jawahar Kaul. The songs were penned by Sahir Ludhianvi and music was given by S.D.Burman. Despite the strong melodramatic story, the film flopped because of sloppy direction, bizarre sets and costumes, which seem unrealistic. In the music department S.D.Burman gave stellar performance. Lata got fair share of music. Out of total nine songs , she got four solos and a duet with Talat Mahmood.
