Piya Piya Piya Mora Jiya Pukare....

Piya Piya Piya Mora Jiya Pukare- Asha Bhosle, Kishor Kumar- Film Baap Re Baap 1955- Lyricist Jan Nissaar Akhtar- Music O.P.Nayyar

Produced and Directed by legendary A.R.Kardar, Baap Re Baap was a comedy , family drama, in which Kishore Kumar and Chand Usmani were in leading roles. The story of the film is about a young and wealthy man Ashok, (Kishore Kumar), who is over protected by his parents. The parents try to locate a suitable bride for him. An advertisement is released in the press. In response to the advt., many aspirant brides apply. However the young man's heart is stolen by a simple flower girl, Kokila (Chand Usmani), when he clandestinely hears her singing. He immediately looses his heart to her.
In the meanwhile, many brides come to see Ashok. Every time he makes excuses, or faking to be a lunatic, crazy man. Most of the film is about the comic incidences arising out of this drama. At last Ashok leaves home along with Kokila, lets his parents know his intention to get married to Kokila. His mother relents but the father is obstinate. However at the end with some smart planning in he brings Kokila to his home as bride. Seeing her caring and modest nature the father agrees for their marriage. The end...

This song comes in the film, when the love between Ashok and Kokila is blossoming. During a tonga ride they sing the song. The famous tanga rhythm of composer O.P.Nayyar, which was repeated later on, in many films is quite foot tapping here in this song. The whole song is full of lilting tune, laden with zest and energy. The simple looking Chand Usmani looks without much make up looks ravishingly beautiful. Notice her affectionate, naughty glances to Kishor and the exultant, overwhelmed Kishor's energetic yodeling in high pitch. At 2:20, apparently it was Kishore Kumar's turn to sing, but Asha Bhosle started singing, she later notified Kishore of the mistake in the song recording and he said, don't worry, during the shooting, I will just place my hand on the actress' mouth, portraying that the actor stops her from singing. What an actor and singer!! Kishore's Yodeling is at very high pitch and it is the best part of this song. Handful of singers are capable of this kind of yodeling.....
The chemistry between the leading pair is quite palpable. That's why the song becomes an audio-visual treat to viewers and that's why even after five generations the present youth cannot resit tapping their feet on the rhythmic song.
