Darna Mohabbat Kar De- Lata Mangeshkar and Shamshad Begum- Film Andaz 1949-Lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri- Music Naushad

Film Andaz, released in 1949, was Mehboob khan's Magnum Opus, in the sense, two acting stalwarts, Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor first time came together in a movie. It was also the last time. Secondly, association of Nargis and Lata Mangeshkar started from this film. Earlier, in film "Anokha Pyar", Nargis as well as Lata Mangeshkar were there, but songs of Nargis were sung by Meena Kapoor and Lata sang the songs of Nalini Jaywant. However , in "Andaz", Lata Mangeshkar was Nargis's voice.

The song "Darna Mohabbat Kar De" is sung by Lata and Shahshad Begum.. Those days, if the song had two or more singers, it was recorded by making the singers stand in front of single microphone. That was the standard practice. However, for Lata Mangeshkar, this proved to be troublesome. Compared to Shamshad's thick and strong voice, Lata's voice was thin. Shamshad's voice was overlapping Lata's voice. As a result, Lata's voice was not reaching recording machine properly. Recordist Kaushik and Naushad then made Shamshad stand two feet away from mike, and brought Lata nearer to Mike. The recording was then done properly. On screen, this song is sung by Nargis and dancer Cuckkoo. Nargis sings in Lata's voice, whereas Cuckoo sings in Shamshad's voice.
