Ek Dil Ke Tukde Hazar Hue....

Ek Dil Ke Tukde Hazar Hue- Rafi-Film Pyar Ki Jeet 1948- Qamar Jalalabadi- Music Husnalal Bhagatram.

The song, " Dukh Ke Ab Din Bitat Nahi Re", sung by Kundan Lal Saigal, in the film "Devdas",  was the first song of separation, which gained immense popularity. However, the song, " Ek Dil Ke Tukde Hazar Hue", sung by Mohammad Rafi in the film " Pyar Ki Jeet 1948", proved to be a trend setter one. Rafi had sung the song, intermingling the words with many sobs, to create the magical feeling of sorrow and pains of separation of two love birds. This made the song unique. It paved a way for such type of songs of separation, in coming days. The popularity of the song so influenced the singing style of Rafi, that he used to sing every song of separation, interspersing with sobs. It took herculean efforts by other composers, to pull him out of this habit.

The song was actually not written for this film. In 1947, Filmistan's Shashadhar Mukerjee, had rejected the song, as he felt the lyrics was rubbish .From that time, this song was lying with him. At the time of song recording of film "Pyar Ki Jeet", he showed it to Director, O.P.Dutta. Dutta was so impressed by the lyrics, that to insert the song in the film, a separate scene was conceived. Rest was history. The song created trend of separation songs, in the film world.

जीवन के सफ़र में हम जिनको समझे थे हमारे साथी हैं
दो क़दम चले फिर बिछड़ गए
कोई यहाँ गिरा …

तूफ़ान से तिनके बिखर गए
कोई यहाँ गि
