Dil Mera Toda, Muze Kahi Ka Na Chhoda- Lata Mangeshkar-Film MAjboor 1948-Lyricist Panipati- Music Ghulam Hyder.

After the phenomenal success of film Khazanchi, released in 1941, Ghulam Hyder's  became a household name. As a composer, he got the recognition and fame by this film. He proved ,that even without a popular star cast, a film can be successful, solely on the merit of it's music. Thus, he was instrumental in enhancing the value of composers in the film world in general.
While scoring music for film Majboor, Ghulam Hyder exploited this fact to his benefit. Whereas the the Hero of the film Shyam and Heroine of the film Munawwar Sultana got Rs.1500/- and Rs. 2000/- respectively, Ghulam Hyder's fee was a whooping Rs.20000/- that time.

"Dil Mera Toda", was the first song of Lata Mangeshkar under his music direction. Like Anil Biswas, Ghulam Hyder was also quick to recognize the potential in Lata's voice. He introduced her to hindi film music, despite resistance from producer of the Majboor. He  removed her faulty Urdu accents and polished them.Thus he was a Lata's mentor.

In this song, Lata's voice is so tender and childish, that it has got an inherent innocent tinge. The Lyrics, and the music is commendable. In all respect, the song excels. Therefore it is remembered even today.
