Tu Mera Chand Mai Teri Chandni -Shyam/Suraiyya- Film Dillagi 1949-Lyricist Shakeel Badayuni-Music Naushad

Dillagi, released in 1949, was a Kardar productions film, the songs of which were penned by Shakeel Badayuni and music was composed by Naushad. This song of film Dillagi, sung by Shyam and Suraiyya became an instant hit, because of it's melody and beautiful lyrics. The song is easy for humming, by even an ordinary man. Naushad's contribution to the hindi film music was, he released the hold of class people, over the hindi film music and extended it's reach  to the ordinary mass people. Even today, after 3-4  generations, the magic of this song appeals to the listeners.

Shyam was the hero of this film. However, Shyam the singer of this song is different from Shyam, the hero of the film. Singer Shyam's real name was Sayyad Gul Hamid, and he hailed from Pune. He was a peon in Kardar productions. Naushad found him humming songs and gave opportunity to sing. His voice was used in many Kardar Films like Sharada, Sanjog and Kanoon. Under Naushad's baton , he sang in film Ratan as well. Besides singing under Naushad's music direction, he was active onscreen performing many roles.

However, the association of Naushad and Shyam did not last long. This was the last song of Shyam under Naushad's music direction.With the emergence of Rafi in Naushad's music, Shyam gradually faded. He concentrated on acting. In his later acting career, he was seen many films as a villain.
