Annadata 1952, was the first movie produced by eminent actor/producer Shaikh Mukhtar. The music of Annadata was given by Mohammad Shafi. While working under Naushad, he had started giving music independently to other films. His first independent film was Annadata and second one was Dara 1953.

Shafi's music to both films was admirable. Especially the clever use of Chorus intermingling with singer's voice to create smooth flowing melody was his highlight style.  The result was creation of heavenly melody that starts smoothly and ends equally smoothly, creating an ambiance of calm and serene. The songs ' Do Bol Tere Meethe Meethe' and above song ' Aa Nainomein Jhoomkar Sajna' are the best example of how chorus enhances the beauty of a song. Lata's honey dipped voice expresses the feeling of ardent love.
