Jane Na Nazar Pehchane Jigar-Lata Mangeshkar/Mukesh-Film Aah 1953- Lyrics Hasrat Jaipuri- Music Shankar Jaikishan
Directed by Raja Nawathe, Aah 1953, was a romantic movie in Devdas style tragic ending initially. Rajkapoor and Nargis were in lead roles and the music was by Shankar Jaikishan duo, who were becoming a permanent fixture of R.K.Films. After working as assistant Director for Barsat and Awara, this was Raja Nawathe's independent directional debut. All the songs of movie Aah were hit and chart buster, but the film did business below average.
The plot of the movie is like this...
Raj (Raj Kapoor) is the son of a wealthy widowed businessman. His mother had died suffering from Tuberculosis. Raj is sent to country side to supervise construction of Saraawati Dam. The country side perfectly suit him, when he is told by his father of the last wish by his mother. As per her dying wish, Raj should correspond to the daughter of rich family friend, Chandra (Vijaylaxmi) for fixing his marriage. Raj writes to Chandra, but she ignores his letter. Her teenage sister Neelu (Nargis), sensing the passion and sincerity of Raj's letter, decides to respond. Their correspondence continues and they fall in love. Raj is oblivious to the fact that it is Neelu and not  Chandra that he is loving.
All things appears to be rosy with story heading for happy climax, when Raj's family doctor Kailash (Pran- first time in non-villain role) diagnoses Raj with Tuberculosis. Raj is totally devastated. Every thing crumbles around him. For him ,his love for Neelu has no meaning. He turns melancholic and despondent. To desist Neelu from loving him he tries Neelu to believe that he actually loves Chandra. However, when Chandra comes to know about his decease through Kailash , she tells the truth to Neelu, who accepts Raj as he is. She treats him and miraculously Raj survives with happy ending.
The theme of the tragic hero and the sufferings of the heroine was inspired from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay 's famous novel Devdas, which has also been inspiration to various other films. The end of the film originally showed Neelu marrying Dr. Kailash at Raj's insistence; Raj dies while Neelu's wedding procession is passing by. But at the premiere, Kapoor realised that this film would not work. Kapoor said, The atmosphere in an auditorium is like a living, palpitating thing. It told me again and again: "Your picture is a flop."
The end of the film was then changed from a tragic one to the happy one, because the film did not do well in initial runs. However it also ruined the ,  thematic unity of the story. Even after the change, the film did not fare well.
This song comes in the film, when Neelu leaves the home to meet Raj. They accidentally meet. The flat tyre of Raj's  car and foul rainy weather compel them to take shelter in a village at postmaster's cottage. They express the feeling of love welling up their heart. A fascinating song. It makes you feel the greatness of the poet, the music director and the singers. Everything seems to be coming from the heart- yes heart. This is the music that leaves indelible mark on your heart and remains evergreen.
Both Mukesh and Lata complement each other in their tender and affectionate voices. Hasrat Jaipuri's lyrics brings out the magic of first love and Shankar Jaikishan's music as always in situation like this is heavenly.
