Like movies Aah and Aas, the Dharmadev Kashyap directed film Naya Ghar was also a flop film but it's music scored by Shankar Jaikishan, won accolades among discerned cine viewers and listeners. As was the case, by that time, Lata Mangeshkar's voice had become an indispensable ingredient of SJ's music. Naturally the music of Naya Ghar was also dominated by Lata Mangeshkar's voice.
Story of film Naya Ghar, concerns about the desire of a simple woman to have a sweet home in the urbanized city. It is every woman's wish to have her own house and she aspires for it. Kamini (Geeta Bali)'s mother thought that Kamini is too simple to get wealthy husband and her own house. However, as destined a young construction engineer Kamal (Shekhar) comes to reside opposite her house. He also yearns for his home, and has a housing project in his mind. when he sees Kamini, he finds the ideal wife in her. Both fall for each other and their marriage is fixed.
Enters Chanda (Begum Para), who is Kamini's college friend in Bombay. She also gets accommodation near Kamal's home. Both get acquainted and fall in love. Chanda does not know that Kamal is her friend's fiance. When she knows it it is too late. She refuses to unstretch the tentacles of her beauty. Kamal is also swept off his feet in love with Chanda. Kamini's world collapses around her.Her beloved had jilted her. Will it be possible for her to regain her man and the sweet home she aspired for.?
The story of the film was catchy but the film bombed on Box office. However what remained behind sparkling from the debris, is Shankar Jaikishan's extraordinary music. They used sweetness of Talat and Lata's voice to full extent. Lata sang five solos and Talat 2 solos. All these songs were chart buster and quality songs. Especially Lata's pristine voice added beauty to the wonderfully composed songs. This song comes in the film when Kamini and Kamal fall in love. Kamini's world suddenly becomes colourfull like rainbow. She is transported to the paradise of Love, where her dreams keep blossoming , making her all the more happier and joyfull, basking in the glory of all encompassing feelings of love.
