Basti Basti Parbat Parbat Gata Jaye Banzara- Rafi- Film railway Platform 1955- Sahir Ludhianvi- Music Madan Mohan.

Railway Platform, released in 1955, was Sunil Dutt's debut film. The lead pair of Sunil Dutt and Nalini Jaywant was supported by Johny Walker, Sheila Ramani, Manmohan Krishna, Leela Mishra etc.
This is film about a railway, stranded at a non discreet station when tracks are flooded. The train has comprehensive varieties of people on board. There is a princess Indira ( Sheila Ramani), who is  on the run from the vices of her kingdom Andher Nagari, to avoid an unwanted marriage, there is Ram (Sunil Dutt), an unemployed, financially poor youth travelling with his ailing mother and sister. There is a business minded Naubat (Johny Walker in villainous shade), who sees business even in the event of calamity, a petty thief, (Young Jagdeep)  and finally there is a Kavi (Manmohan Krishna), who sings on board philosophic songs. The world of all these people intersect with each other. The film describes the behavioral patterns of all the people stranded for 48 hours in a God forsaken , lonely station.
All the events and consequent actions take place in a small village closest to Andher Nagari Railway Station, which is the only place for the travelers to get some food and water.
This song, comes in the film right at the time of opening credits. Onscreen it is sung by Kavi (Manmohan Krishna) addressed to everyone in general the philosophy of life.....

(With music in his heart, this vagabond is going from place to place , through villages, mountains, rivers experiencing the journey of life, which is very short. Once completed, we have to start preparation of leaving the earth and commence the final journey towards the end of life.
This journey of life is fraught with many temptations. Unpredictable events weave a web around the travelers to sabotage the journey. Everyone's journey has different paths but nonetheless, the ultimate destination is definitely reached at last. By the queer whims of destiny everyone has to embark on this unavoidable path without any choice. There is no respite. !!
Even though everyone knows the inevitability of their final destination, where nothing that has been accumulated during this journey, can be taken at the ultimate destination, ignorant and fool people  run behind the materialistic things like wealth , women, and wines.
In this cruel unconcerned world, the virtues, like affection, love and loyalty are bought by money, ignoring the agonies, tears and sorrows of the suffering. A kind of impregnable engulfing wall of money is omnipresent, dividing the hearts of people. The virtues are traded and purchased against the gold and silver only.
The callousness of  the invisible hand of God, writing the cruel fate in the life of common man,, makes the Kavi sad. He feels that He is not God, but a mere Stone, oblivious to all events happening in it's surroundings.)

Sahir is at his philosophic best !!. Through very simple words, he touches upon the universal truth and bitterness in common man's heart, seeing injustice, dishonesty, corruption and nepotism infested society and falling standards of life. Madan Mohan's music very well blends with the lyrics. The song has inherent rhythm of Rail, which is quite fascinating.
