Adapted from the novel by Victor Hugo, " Les Miserable', film Kundan is the conflict between Have and have and have not in the society. It depicts the struggle of Kundan (Sohrab Modi), who is  compelled to steal a loaf of bread, to feed his family of ailing mother and niece Radha (Nimmi). He is sentenced for two years of jail. Two unsuccessful attempts of escape from jail result into extending his jail term to fourteen years.

In the meantime, Radhagets married to Gopal, (Pran), who turns out to be a crook. A daughter Uma is born of them. Gopal steals all the jewelries of Radha and ditches her. Rasha and Uma find shelter to a kind tea-shop owner (Om Prakash) and his wife (Manorama). After his release, Kundan comes to his home, but is not able to locate Radha. Neighbors drive him away calling him a dacoit.

With the help of a kind priest, kundan reforms, learns the art of pottery. After Radha's death, he brings up Uma. Grown Uma (Nimmi) meets Amrit (Sunil Dutt), who is a freedom fighter youth, involved in Quit India Movement.They fall in love. It is at this stage the above song comes in the film. Both enjoy each other's company. They are immersed in love. Their affectionate glances, the warm touches tell it all. They express their feelings of love by this song.

The lyrics is playfull, the tune of Ghulam Mohammad is enchanting and peppy. It creates the ambience of carefree love.
