Jeevan Ke Safar Mein Rahi....

Jeevan Ke Safar Me Rahi- Kishore Kumar- Film Munimji 1955- Lyrics Sahir Ludhianvi- Music S.D.Burman.

Munimji , released in 1955 was a romance film featuring Dev Anand and Nalini Jaywant in lead roles. The film was later remade in Telgu as " Inti Guttu". It is all about the wooing of a foreign returned girl Roopa (Nalini Jaywant), by two sons of Malti (Niroopa Roy). One Ratan (Pran), is raised by her as maid and other Amar (Dev Anand) . However their motives are different. Ratan is actually a dacoit Kala Ghoda and he is after Roopa's inheritance, whereas Amar is purely loving her.

After her arrival from abroad, Amar tries to woe Roopa in Munimji's disguise ( with spectacles, mustache and a queer mole on cheek ) as well as as in the disguise of Raj ( A smart, debonair Dev in his usual himself).  Roopa is not happy with an ordinary Munimji trying to impress her. She humiliates Amar. When he escorts Roopa from Rail Station to her home, Roopa's car breaks. It is when Amar discards Munimji's disguise and suddenly reveals himself as Smart guy Raj, mends her car.

After initial hiccups, Roopa also begins to reciprocate Amar's love. Their love blossoms.
In this song however, she shows her reluctance towards the advances of Amar to woe her, while singing the song....
(In the journey of life which is replete with many moments laden with joy as well as sorrow, one meets with many co travelers. They occupy a private corner of your heart. Their presence fills your world. However in the end, they desert you half way. They leave only their agony filled memories behind you and those memories haunt you for the rest of your life. The unconcerned, cruel and materialistic world cannot fathom the feelings of those who are totally lost their hearts.
These people steal your heart, and when you begin to endear them they betray you and leave your world. They bring joy and laghter in your life only to turn them into tearful sorrow in the end. However it is equally true they will remain in memory day and night.)
What a beautiful lyrics !!. Sahir is at his philosophic best here !! Burman Da's tune is simple without any frills ,but captivating. The song is most popular one among other songs of the film. Kishore Kumar's version of the song is rendered in happy state, whereas lata's version is in desolate and melancholic state of mind, when Amar agrees to his mother's plea to abandon his love for his brother Ratan sake.
