Composer Anil Biswas played an important in grooming and developing a singing sensation , newly identified by Ghulam Hyder. She was an artiste par excellence having base of classical Hindustani music. However Anilda refined her singing behind the recording mike and  taught her the craft of playback singing: the importance of words, accents, the intake and expel of breath without anyone noticing it and maintaining vocal quality without any distortion at any pitch.

During early 1950s, Lata's voice has profound influence of Noor Jehan. Anil Biswas was instrumental in ironing it out. Once that was done, sky was the limit for her. Here was the singer with classical training, with divine ,honey laced voice, ready to be moulded as per composer's wishes. She was dream singer for composers. Her voice afterwords opened the door to limitless possibilities for music directors. Now there was no constraint in what music directors could create; she could reproduce it perfectly as they had imagined, or even better, in a voice unparalleled in the history of film music. She soon became synonymous with Female Playback Singing, and Anil Biswas had a big role in creating the legend.

Anil Biswas -Lata association started from film Anokha Pyar 1948 till Chhoti Chhoti Batein 1965., encompassing 30 films and 120 songs. Obviously she was his favorite singer, even though he utilised the voices of Shamshad Begum, Meena Kapoor etc.

To be sure, there are at least ten composers, who have given more songs than Anil Biswas for Lata Mangeshkar, with Laxmikant Pyarelal and Shankar Jaikishan giving four or five times more. But the quality of the Maestro’s music for the Melody Queen is at a different pedestal. Their songs, while being supremely sweet, are soothing and transport you to a tranquil joy. In jalti Nishani movie also Anilda harnessed the sweet voice of Lata to maximum extent. Lata sang following songs in the film:

2. Badalonki Palkine (Duet with Mukesh)
3. Aaj Bhari Mehfilmein Mat le Unka Naam.
4. Chand Pe Badal Chha Gaya.
5. Ho Raha Hai Meri Ulfatka.
6. Jab Se Tune Hath Chhode
