Composer Roshan's initial films did not have Lata's voice. However after 1949, he did emply her voice emphathetically. Their association produced numerous musical gems which even after 60 years never fail to mesmerize the listeners. Their association consolidated at the time of film Mehbooba, for which initially Roshan was assigned as music director. However following the raging popularity of film Aarpar's songs , producer of Mehbooba sought replacement of Roshan with O.P.Nayyar. This was in any criteria against the ethics. O.P. also did not mind breaching the ethics of film industry. He accepted the assignment. Lata fought on behalf of Roshan on this issue. Since then Lata's voice became dominant factor of Roshan's music. 

Film Jashan has one of the best Lata's solo sad song, depicting the melancholic feelings of a broken heart. Betrayal hurts...and if it is from the person you love from the deepest chamber of your heart, it hurts more, leaving an indelible scars. Every breath becomes an ordeal and every night  a unending turmoil that eats your life slowly. You can't express your feelings to anyone but to yourself and there is no respite from this torment. Lata's tender voice conveys these feeling effectively.
