Jane Kaha Mera Jigar Gaya Ji...

Jane Kaha Mera Jigar Gaya Ji- Rafi, Geeta Dutt-Film Mr.& Mrs.55 (1955)- Majrooh Sultanpuri- Music O.P.Nayyar.

Mr.& Mrs.55, was a romantic comedy in light mood, by Gurudutt, who later produced the heavyweight films like Pyasa and Kagaj Ke Phool. The film touches the subject of Women Empowerment in post independance period and makes a fun of liberals in highbrow society , enforcing their ideas , while sitting in ivory towers , on general society. In a way the film is reactionary . Whether the theme is correct in present modern days will be something to be debated. However, the predictability of theme is more than offset by strong musical score by O.P.Nayyar, fine ensemble acting and creative cinematography.
The lead pair was Guru Dutt and Venus Queen of Bollywood, Madhubala. They were supported by Lalita Pawar, Johny Walker, Yasmin, Tuntun, Kumkum and Cuckoo.
The film's plot runs like this:
Sita Devi (Lalita Pawar) is a feminist firebrand lady, who seeks the passage of a parliamentary divorce bill , which will empoer women to terminate marriages as per their wish. Her young and pretty niece Anita (Madhbala) is madly in love with Ramesh a Tennis pro. Her escapades results into a chance meeting with Preetam (Guru Dutt), who is unemployed cartoonist.
Sita Devi's plans to mold Anita's persona as an independent woman has one obstacle. Anita's late  father had stipulated in his will that his daughter must marry within a month of her 21st birthday, or lose her inheritance of seven million rupees. Ramesh spurns Anita's proposal and goes abroad. The dead line is fast approaching and with no suitable boy on horizon, her scheming aunt contrives a marriage of connivance-to be terminated within a month- with a needy ,poor youth, who is willing to forego the contract marriage. Who is more suitable for this than our hero Preetam.?. Preetam however is uninterested in money, but hoping against the hope that his wooing will probably change Anita's mind.
After so many twists in the tale, Anita off course changes her mind and both are united. Preetam's newspaper photographer friend, Johny( Johny Walker) helps Preetam in this matter. Johny himself is smitten by the charm and beauty of a secretary at his newspaper office, whom he woes by singing this song.....

A light and peppy song setting the romantic mood . The lyrics is light also.  O.P.Nayyar has imparted suitable tune to the lyrics. A beautiful mischievous and romantic song of youth.....
