Aasoo Ab Tum Kabhi Na Bahana....
Kafila, released in 1952, was a film with lead pair of Ashok Kumar and Nalini Jaywant. The songs of the film were penned by Brijendra Gaud, Josh Malihabadi and B.A. Moti. Music was given by Husnalal Bhagatram duo. Lata Mangeshkar had a beautiful duet with Kishore kumar " Leharonse Pooch Lo, Ya Kinaronse Pooch Lo", and also a heart wrenching solo " Aasoo Ab Tum Kabhi Na Bahana".
Nalini Jaywant possessed an angelic face like Greta Garbo. She acted in films, Milan (1967), Munimji (1955) and Kala Pani (1958) . She was also Nutan’s cousin — had been spotted in a school play, cast in Radhika (1941) and become a star at the age of 13. At 17, she married the film’s director, Virendra Desai. The scandalous marriage put the brakes on her promising career.
She returned, divorced from him, with the Gujarati superhit Varasdar, which bagged her the second lead in the Dilip Kumar-Nargis starrer Anokha Pyaar (1948). Soon to follow were Samadhi (1950), Sangram (1950), Kafila (1952), Jalpari (1952), Nau bahar (1952), Lakeerein (1954) and Naaz (1954). Her pairing with Ashok Kumar had a romantic flavour both on and off screen. The chemistry between them was so palpable, that numerous rumours were flyring about their romance off reel. However their romance did not bear fruit. Later on She married with Prabhu Dayal , her producer husband. After her husband's death and Ashok Kumar's death she literally went into isolation till her death.
This song picturized on Nalini Jaywant, is sung by Lata Mangeshkar, in her divine sweet voice. It brings out the pangs of broken heart, filled with immense grief of separation. All the dreams she had once, have evaporated. All her aspirations are dead now. Her anguish is welling up from her heart to the eyes by way of never ending tears. However she warns the tears not to flow out and tell the sorrow filled tale of loneliness to the world.
