The movie Hangama, released in 1952, was a comedy film, on the line of Laurel-Hardy. Gope and Yakub were the comedians.This trend of comedy film started from film Patanga 1949 with Yakub anf Gope in lead role. The films like Meharbani 1950,Sagai 1951 and Hangama 1952, established the trend which became very popular.C.Ramchandra also gave appropriate peppy music suitable for comedy film in Sagai and Hangama.

Although the film was comedy, there were very affectionate and tender songs in Lata's voice. Lata's voice by this time had become an integral part of CR's music. He used to reserve such songs to Lata, irrespective of the film's theme.
