Sama Ke Dilmein Hamare Zara

Sama Ke Dilmein Hamare Zara -Talat Mahmood, Lata Mangeshkar-Film Anhonee 1952-Lyricist Ali Sardar Jafri-Music Roshan

Anhonee, released in 1952 ,under Naya Sansar banner by K.A.Abbas, was a psychological drama having double role of Nargis. This was the first time that the same actor played two divergent roles of different personality traits. Abbas attempted to explore two concepts – Geneticsm and Determinism, a theme which he experimented in Awara which became a raging hit at that time.

Nargis's double role was highly appreciated and it started the trend of same actor/actress in double role, which was tried by many, later on with much success. The story of the film revolves around three people mainly. – Mohini and Roop – both played by Nargis – one legitimate, raised by a courtesan, and one illegitimate. As time passes by, Roop falls in love with Rajkumar Saxena (played by Raj Kapoor), an advocate – who is a tenant – comes to pay the house rent to her father, but instead meets Roop. Soon they become involved in a deeper romantic relationship, and Roop convinces her father for their marriage.

As the family plan to organise a party to formally announce the wedding, Rajkumar runs into Mohini, Roop's twin sister, and comes to know that Mohini is the real daughter. Unable to bear this, Mohini gets into an unpleasant situation, and gets angry over Rajkumar. In the meanwhile, Roop comes to know about the truth, and tries to save Mohini by deciding to swap the positions of both of them. During this, the marriage happens where Rajkumar unknowingly weds Mohini. When Roop's father comes to know about the reality he dies. Things come to predictable climax after many twists in the story.
Nargis gave a stellar performance enacting two totally diverse personality traits. As Roop she is demure and stately , whereas as Mohini she effectively brings out the arrognce, lust and vulgarity of a prostitute. Her role was highly acclaimed. Raj Kapoor as usual is his self, without any mannerism. Talat Mahmood and Lata Mangeshkar has been given equal opportunity in music department. Talat has three songs in this film

1.Mai Dil Hoon Ek Arman Bhara (Solo)
2. Sama Ke Dilmein Hamare Zara Khayal (Duet with Lata)
3. Mere Dil Ki Dhadkan Kya Bole (Duet with Lata)

Both songs became popular. In music department, Roshan's performance was as usual impressive. The association of Ali Sardar Jafri as a lyricist started from this film.
