Din SuhaneYe Mausam Bahar Ka

Din Suhane Ye Mausam Bahar Ka-Lata Mangeshkar-Film Poonam 1952-Lyricist Shailendra- Music Shankar Jaikishan.

M. Sadique is best remembered for his emotionally profound Muslim social films like "Chudahvika Chand", "Taj Mahal" and " Bahu Begum". Poonam, released in 1952, was his 15th film, produced under Kayarts productions. This is a romance film brimming full of songs, The story takes place on the picturesque setting of Kullu Valley. The camera work of Director M.Sadique is deft in capturing the lyrical beauty of Kullu Valley. The story of the film runs likes this..

Rajan (Ashok Kumar), drives to a countryside, when his car meets accident, and he gets injured. Vaidya  Chagu Ram Tripathi gives him shelter. Next morning when repairing his car, he hears a woman singing. Enthralled by her sweet voice, he follows her and finds that she is Chanda. (Kamini Kaushal). In the process, he also gets acquainted with Birju (Sajjan),  He brings both Chanda and her father to his home. There gradually Chanda underergoes metamorphosis. She falls for Rajan and sings for him in his palatial house. Rajan, however is interested only in her voice and not in her beauty. He is kind of unemotional and more as patronizing. At this stage, the story seems to be poised for interesting romance, when a sudden twist comes in the second half of the story.

Enters Bina (Asha Mathur) along with a small blind baby Bubali (Baby Chunmun), claiming  that the baby is of Ashok's. This creates a kind of tension in the story. Her desire to reunite with Ashok, excusing for her past behaviour, and wishing their reunion only on one condition, Chanda should go away, ....all these events makes the story gripping and lead to ultimately suicide of Babli. An ordinary story with predictable end. What sets this film apart, is it's music. The songs are penned by Hasrat Jaipuri and Shailendra. The music is by Shankar Jaikishan.

Lata Mangeshkar started singing under SJ's banner from film Barsat,  Poonam however was a film where all the nine songs went to Lata Mangeshkar. This SJ's music in Poonam was totally encompassed by Lata's voice. Such was the magic of Lata's honey laden voice, that even the hero of the film had no song. In film Barsat, Lata sang for Nargis,Nimmi and Bimla Kumari. In film Kali Ghata  , she sang for Bina Roy and Asha Mathur. In film Badal she sang for Madhubala and Purnima. Same thing was repeated in film Poonam as well. Here in the film, Lata sang for Kamini Kaushal, Asha mathur and Baby Chunmun. Lata sang following songs in the film

1. Din Suhane Ye Mausam bahar Ka.
2.Zumak Zumak Chal Mere Hathi.
3.Chanda Ki Chandanimein Zoome Zoome Dil Mera.
4, Aai Aai Raat Suhani Sun Le Khushi Ki Kahani.. (Happy Version)
5. Do Din Ki Zindgimein Dukhade Hai Besumar
6. Chand Poonam Ka Khila Madbhari Ye Raat hai
7.O Bhole Balma Wo Bhole Balma
8. Ab To Aa Jao Balam Fursat Ke Mare Ro Diye
9. Aai Aai Raat Suhani (Sad Version)

All these songs became very popular. Lata era had begun. Later on Lata-SJ combination gave numerous musical gems that were simply unforgettably wonderful and melodious. This was the beginning of their association.

This song comes in the film, when Chanda is singing the song in the captivating beauty of Kullu valley. She heralds and welcomes the days of youth. She feels that the days of dreams have come. These days are marvelous, and she wants to sing from the bottom of her heart. The all encompassing joy and zest has engulfed her youth. The flowers of love are blossoming  in her joyous heart and their  aroma is intoxicating. She desires somebody should enter her life as her beloved and she spend the sleepless nights in dreaming his ecstatic presence. She wants the youth, to transform  her life totally, She wishes her life,  full of melodies and pleasantries.

Kamini Kaushal through her fluent and eloquent dancing movements, convey effectively the zest of youth , her desires and wishes from the youth dreamland. Shalendra's lyrics is simple and communicative. Finally about SJ's music....Simply great. They have succeeded to bring forth the sweetness of honey dripping voice of Lata. Therefore the song creates an ambiance of Happiness.
