Koi Pookare Dheerese.....

Koi Pookare Dheerese Tujhe- Suman kalyanpur-Film Mangu 1954- Lyrics by Saba Afghani- Music Mohammad Shafi

After film Bajooband , Mangu was another film released in 1954 for which composer Mohammad Shafi gave music. This was Shaikh Mukhtar production film. The songs were penned by Saba Afghani, Majrooh Sultanpuri and S.H.Bihari. The music was given by composers Mohammad Shafi and O.P.Nayyar. Mohammad Shafi had composed only one song' Koi Pookare Dheere Se Tujhe' , which was a lorie. All other songs were composed by O.P.Nayyar. This was Suman Kalyanpur's second film. The first was Darwaza, in which she had sung under Naushad's music. In this, film she sang only this song. Singer Talat Mahmood was actually instrumental in introducing Suman kalyanpur to film industry, He had listened her in a private programme, suggested her name to HMV, who released records of her private non film songs. Since her voice greatly resembled Lata's voice, the film industry immediately took notice of this gifted voice. After film Darwaza, she sang in Mangu. Her voice in this lorie comes nearly close to Lata's. This song was penned by Saba Afghani.
Other songs were written by  Majrooh Sultanpuri & S.H.Bihari.  The association of O.P.Nayyar and Asha Bhosle started from film Cham Chama Cham, but in Mangu, O.P.Nayyar in his own unique style, brought out the potential of enchanting and intoxicating voice of Asha. Asha in O.P.Nayyar's music seems totally different from Asha in other composer's music. This was  beginning of their long association, which created many undulating and lilting songs having foot tapping rhythm, that keep generation after generation mesmerised.

In this film Asha sang  following beautifully composed songs...
  1. Man More ga Jhoomke
  2. Bol Pardesiyan Ye Tune Kya Kiya
  3. Dol Mere Man Pyar se....
all these songs became popular. However the song that stands apart is this lorie by Suman Kalyanpur. Today Mangu film is remembered for this song only.
Initial tender humming creates the ambiance of calmness and serenity. The lorie itself is sung in soulful voice with minimum background music. The Chorus tune induces the tranquility in listener's mind. Superbly composed song by Mohammad Shafi.
